Welcome to Shelly Simpson - Artist
Shelley Simpson was born in 1979 in the city of Portsmouth, and currently lives and works in Plymouth.
Shelley graduated in Fine Art and History at Middlesex university in 2003, having been painting since 1995 as a student. Her original choice was to paint in acrylic, but has recently found oil to be her calling. The ability to mix, blend and produce really smooth brush lines has enhanced the realisation of pictures in her mind. She has always pursued an exploration of the sky, sea colour and space to produce all sizes of oil paintings.
Shelley’s preference is to work in oils, building up her pictures with many glazes to achieve misty and dreamy effects with a depth of colour.
Shelley’s paintings are often a reflection of the places she loves most, especially by the sea. She considers herself to be a very lucky person living here in the West Country and strives to express this in her art.
“I would like people to look at my paintings and think about where they would like to be and how it makes them feel.”
